DAY BY DAY ITINERARY | |

Day 1: Departure. Your vacation begins with an overnight flight to Prague. Day 2: Prague. After hotel check-in you are free to explore this eternal "City of a Hundred Golden Towers". In the evening you meet your fellow travelers and the Tour Director at a welcome dinner of Czech specialties and original Czech beer. (WD) Day 3: Prague(CZE). Accompanied by a qualified guide, see the charming Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana) with magnificent palaces and Parliament buildings, then cross the Vltava River over the ancient Charles Bridge in stone from 1357 with a beautiful view to Prague's Hradcany Castle and walk through the magical labyrinthine streets of Old Town. The Tyn Church, Old Townhall (1364), the famous Astronomical Clock and its breathtaking movement of the Apostles and other mobile figures will stay in your memory forever. We also visit the magical Jewish Quarter with its synagogue and cemetery. The Jewish community has settled here from early history and it is associated with jewelry trade and processing. In the Prague Diamond Center we see the cutting, polishing, setting and casting of gems. Today's tour ends at Wenceslas Square. There is a good opportunity to do some shopping. (B) Day 4: Dobris, Karlstejn, Prague. Today we go south, to Dobris chateaux, work of prominent French architect J.R. de Cott. We visit the valuable interiors including the rococo hall, library, dining room and the tapestry room. The gardens, which are among the most beautiful socalled French gardens in Bohemia, contain a number of statues from the workshop of I.F. Platzer. Then we head to one of the most visited monuments in the country, the royal castle Karlstejn, home to more than 120 panels painted by Master Theodoric from the 1360s. The castle was founded by Charles IV in 1348 to house the coronation jewels. In the evening we enjoy a fascinating show of music, water and lights at the Krizik Fountain. (B,D) Day 5: Prague. This morning we take a guided coach tour of Golden Prague. See the National Theater, Dancing House, Vysehrad fortress, Slavonic Island, Petrin Tower, Strahov Monastery. Then accompanied by a qualified guide we walk through the Hradcany quarter with many wonderful palaces and visit the Prague Castle (founded in 870-890), former seat of kings and a seat of the Czech president today. See St. Vitus Cathedral, Old King's Palace, Vladislav Hall and unique Golden Lane. You can take a rest in the beautiful Castle Gardens and see Singing Fountain and Belvedere, the Royal Summer Palace. The rest of the day is free. Why not experience some local culture tonight? Choose a concert, opera, ballet, music show, theater, Rock, Jazz or Country Club, Discotheque or original Czech pub. (B) Day 6: Konopiste, Kutna Hora, Prague. We visit romantic Konopiste castle today. See the rich interiors, hunting trophies, a valuable collection of historical weapons and extensive park. You can also visit the Konopiste shooting range or St. George Gallery with a great collection of 15th to 19th century sculptures on the theme of St. George. Kutna Hora is an ancient town, built in the second half of the 13th century, emerging from a silver mining village. Historical monuments of this UNESCO listed town belong among European architectural masterpieces. We visit St. Barbara Church, a unique high-come-late Gothic historical monument and home of Renaissance murals dating back to the 15th century, see many other sights like is the Stone Fountain, the Church of St. James and the Stone House. (B) Day 7: Prague. The day is free. The Tour Director will be pleased to help you with your private itinerary. Why not to take a boat cruise on the Vltava river? Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner of Czech specialties. (B, FD) Day 8: Prague / RETURN HOME. It is time to say Good Bye to your new friends and board your plane home. (B) . |
