DAY BY DAY ITINERARY | |
Day 1: Departure. Overnight flight to Prague. Day 2: Prague(CZE). Following arrival and hotel check-in we take a walking guided tour of the magnificent Old Town with architecture ranging from Gothic gloom to Baroque opulence. See gothic Charles Bridge and a beautiful view of Prague Castle, Town Hall (1364) with the Astronomical Clock, Tyn Church and the Jewish Quarter with its cemetery and 13th century synagogue. Visit a unique Diamond Center. This evening we meet new friends at a Welcome Dinner with a Czech beer. (WD) Day 3: Prague(CZE). Our qualified guide shows us another wonderful part of Golden Prague; Hradcany Quarter and Prague Castle. We see Old King's Palace (880), Vladislav Hall, St. George's Basilica and ancient Golden Lane. We explore St. Vitus Cathedral, one of the greatest bohemian churches of the 14th century. Then we relax in the beau-tiful Castle Gardens and see Belvedere, the Royal Summer Palace. After a free program why not to enjoy the night-life? (B) Day 4: Svetla n/Saz., Namest n/ Osl., Brno. Today we set out on our journey. Svetla nad Saza-vou is a historic town famous for its superior glass works. We discover how crystal glass is made and can also buy some souve-nirs. Then we slowly approach to impressive chateaux Namest nad Oslavou, where the rich collections of antique furniture, paintings, chandeliers, pewter wares, porcelain, carpets and tiled stoves are displayed. The best attraction could possibly be the collection of historical Gobelin tapestries from Flemish and Netherlands, from Renaissance to Baroque. The evening is spent in the Moravian metropolis, Brno. It is a good chance to visit a concert or other cultural program. (B, D) Day 5: Pernstejn, Lysice, Brno. This morning we visit one of the best preserved grand castles with Gothic core, Pernstejn Castle. It was founded in 13th century and lately rebuilt in Renaissance style. We take a guided tour of the castle including unique Knights' Hall (1700) and the library. Then we move to Lysice Chateaux. In the beautiful interior, we will see the collections of Bohemia glass, oriental art works, Chateaux armory with arms from gothic to First World War including a collection of Japan arms. The most important sight of the chateaux is the well-known garden colonnade dating back to 1833. The rest of the day is free in Brno. (B, D) Day 6: Brno, Slavkov (Austerlitz). Slavkov Chateaux and the town itself entered into the World history by the Napoleon Battle of Three Emperors. In the chateaux the peace talks were started in 1805. We visit the special "Napoleon And the Battle of Slavkov" exhibition and the famous battlefield. Back in Brno, the second largest city in Czech Republic, accompanied by a professional guide we walk in the historical center and see Spilberk, former castle rebuilt into a fortress, which was used as the hardest jail of Habsburg monarchy in 18th and 19th centuries, called the "Prison of Nations". We visit original prison cells and valuable Art exhibition called "From Renaissance to Modern" (1570-1945). Now you are free to discover fabulous Brno. (B) Day 7: Lednice, Velehrad, Uherske Hradiste. Today we begin in one of the most beautiful chateaux' in Czech Republic - Lednice, an excellent example of English Tudor neo-Gothic style. We catch sight of prestigious rooms, a Minaret Obelisk in a large landscaped park and artificial stalactite cavern. Then we walk through an English Park and French Garden. After that the world leading place of pilgrimage, Velehrad awaits us. The original Romanesque monastery from the beginning of the 13th century was converted into a baroque chateaux. The local basilica is the largest baroque church in the Czech Republic. Free program in Uherske Hradiste, style town and historical center, town of vintage and feasts. (B) Day 8: Roznov pod Radhostem, Olomouc. After magnificent King's castles and chateaux we visit Roznov pod Radhostem (1267). See the historical center of the town and visit a unique open-air museum of folk architecture. You will admire beauties such as the old water mill and other wooden buildings from 18th century. Then we head to Olomouc, after Prague the seconds oldest urban preservation area in Czech Republic. Accompanied by a professional guide we stroll through the Royal town (from 1203), where the Emperor Franz Joseph I. was crowned in 1848. See the St. Wenceslas Cathedral, dating back to 1109, the Astronomical clock, inside St. Moritz Church admire "the Queen of Moravian's Organs", the organ from 1745, and many other monuments. (B, D) Day 9: Moravsky kras (Moravian Karst), Rajec-Jestrebi. From history to Nature is today's theme. Moravsky kras is the one of the most important karst areas in Central Europe. We will look into the Macocha abyss (depth of 138,5 m). Through Punkevni Cave, one of 1000 so far discovered caves, we step down to the bottom of the Macocha. Next we take a cruise through the underground Punkva River; a breathtaking, unforgettable experience. From the underground, we head toward Rajec-Jestrebi Chateaux; a residence in French Ludwig XVI style. We visit its prestigious rooms and mainly the magnificent Salma Gallery with paintings by Dutch and Flemish painters of the 16th century. In the evening we enjoy a farewell dinner in historic Boskovice Chateaux. Music, dancing and original Czech beer are a must! (B, FD) Day 10: Prague, Chrudim. We head back to Prague. We make a stop in Chrudim to visit an interesting museum of puppet film. The rest of the day is free in Prague. (B) Day 11: Prague / RETURN HOME. It is time to board your plane to home. (B) |
