DAY BY DAY ITINERARY | |
Day 1: Departure. Your vacation begins with an overnight flight to Prague. Day 2: Prague (CZE). Following arrival and hotel check-in we take a walking guided tour in magnificent Old Town with architecture ranging from Gothic gloom to Baroque opulence. See magnificent Bohemian Charles Bridge in stone, Town Hall (1364) with the Astronomical Clock, Tyn Church and the Jewish Quarter with its cemetery and 13th century synagogue. Discover a long Jewish tradition of jewelry processing in a unique Diamond Center. This evening we meet our new friends at a Welcome Dinner with Bohemian beer. (WD) Day 3: Prague (CZE). Our qualified guide takes us to visit Prague's great Hradcany Castle. This former seat of kings is a one of the real highlights of this tour. We see Old King's Palace, Vladislav Hall, St. George's Basilica and Golden Lane. We explore St. Vitus Cathedral, one of the greatest churches of the 14th century. Then we relax in the beautiful Castle Gardens and see Belvedere, the Royal Summer Palace. Why not to enjoy one of many classical concerts tonight? (B, D) Day 4: Karlstejn, Prague (CZE). Today we visit Karlstejn, home to more than 120 panels painted by Master Theodoric from the 1360s. Karlstejn is the famous Czech castle founded by King Charles IV in 1348 as a king's place for a rest and a vault for the Czech Coronation Jewels. If we are lucky, the gardens in Lany will be open and we will stop there on the way back. There is a summer and weekend seat of the Czech president. Then we take a guided coach tour of Prague and the rest of the day is free to pursue individual interests. (B) Day 5: Prague, Castolovice (CZE). You have a free morning in Prague. Our tour guide will be pleased to help you arrange you private itinerary. In the afternoon we head to Castolovice chateaux. Admire the chateaux's beautiful interiors and enjoy dinner in the chateaux. (B, D) Day 6: Roznov pod Radhostem (CZE). After magnificent King's castles and chateaux's, we visit an old historic village today. We are in Roznov pod Radhostem, founded in 1267. See the historic center of town, visit a unique open-air museum of folk architecture. Admire the old water mill and other wooden buildings from 18th century. The most capable people from our group can climb up Radhost Hill with God's Radegast statue. (B, D) Day 7: Bojnice (SLK), Budapest (HUN). Bojnice is one of the most beautiful and oldest castles in Central Europe. The oldest mention of this castle is in the Zoborsky document dated 1113. A Slovak national cultural monument, Bojnice Castle is also a great museum of many precious artistic collections. We also see a travertine cave below the castle, habitat of Neanderthal men. There is an optional possibility to swim in the thermal waters. Then we head south through beautiful hilly country of Slovakia. In the evening we arrive to the "Twin City" Budapest located on the river Danube. (B) Day 8: Budapest (HUN). Local guide takes us around the "Bright Capital on the Danube". Visit Heroes square and tour the beautiful parks in Pest, visit Fisherman's Bastion in Buda. After free program we take an evening sightseeing boat ride on the Danube River. (B) Day 9: Budapest (HUN). Today you will have enough time for shopping or explore Budapest on your own. This evening Tour Director will offer dinner in a typical local restaurant. (B) Day 10: Esztergom, Gyor (HUN), Bratislava (SLK). We go to one of the oldest towns in Hungary, Esztergom. Celtic settlements have been here since the 4th century BC. We see Archbishops cathedral, the biggest in Hungary and Water Town with baroque, rococo, classicism and romantic houses and palaces. We then proceed to Györ, one of the most ancient cities. In the late afternoon we arrive in Bratislava, capital of Slovakia. Tour the recently renovated historical center. (B, D) Day 11: Vienna (AUT). A qualified local guide escorts us around the Imperial City of the Habsburgs. Highlights include Hofburg - Emperor's Winter Palace, famous Ringstrasse, Houses of Parliament, Charles Church, Town Hall, Opera House and the symbol of the city, St. Stephen's Cathedral. This evening we will have fun in Prater entertainment park with the world famous Giant Ferris Wheel (1896/97), another symbol of the city. (B) Day 12: Vienna (AUT). Today we visit another symbol of Imperial pomp: the showrooms of magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. On our way back we stop at the Belvedere Palace and the afternoon is free. Perhaps you could enjoy one of many concerts of Mozart or Strauss music in the evening. (B) Day 13: Vienna to Linz (AUT). Today we head through the spectacular Danube valley to Linz, a town with a rich history connected with great names such as Mozart or astronomer J. Kepler. An orientation tour show us Hauptplatz, one of the most beautiful squares in Austria with many gothic houses and Town Hall, dated 1513. We cannot miss a large New Cathedral. Then we go to Germany for dinner and overnight stay in our hotel. (B,D) Day 14: Neuschwanstein, Linderhof (GER). King Ludwig II of Bavaria was the greatest dreamer of all times. The world adores him and admires the romantic dreamscapes of his fairy-tale castles. First we enjoy a wonderful view of the Royal Castle of Neuschwanstein. Next we go to Linderhof to visit mad King Ludwig's favorite castle and then it is time to head back to Bohemia. (B) Day 15: Hluboka n. Vlt., Pribram (CZE). Today we tour the Hluboka nad Vltavou chateaux, called the "Pearl of South Bohemia". 120 rooms hide a lot of exceptional valuable art collections. Then we go to Svata Hora (Hollow Mountain) in Pribram. This very beautiful church is famous as the Virgin Mary's place of pilgrimage. Tonight it is time to say "farewell" to your new friends over a traditional Czech dinner. (B, FD) Day 16: Prague / RETURN HOME. After breakfast we will go to Prague airport for your same day return flight home. (B) |
