DAY BY DAY ITINERARY | |
Day 1: Departure. Overnight flight to Prague. Day 2: Prague (CZE). Following arrival and hotel check-in, we are accompanied by a qualified guide to explore the golden city which was built on seven hills across the River Vltava. See the magnificent view of Prague Castle from gothic Charles Bridge, Town hall (1364) and the Astronomical Clock with moving Apostles. Discover gem processing in a unique Diamond Center in the Jewish Quarter. Our Tour Director welcomes you and fellow travelers with a Dinner of Czech specialties in the evening. (WD) Day 3: Prerov n/L, Kutna Hora (CZE). After a coach round trip in Prague we go to open-air museum in Prerov nad Labem with unique old wooden village buildings. Then you visit Kutna Hora, founded in the early Middle Ages in an area rich with silver. The town's architecture is the main tourist attraction, particularly the impressive Church of St. Barbara, the Stone Fountain, the Stone House and the Czech museum of Silver among others. The evening is free in Prague. Your Tour Director will offer you an optional cultural program. (B) Day 4: Prague (CZE). Today we discover magnificent Prague's Hradcany Castle, the original Slav settlement and seat of kings. We also visit the Gothic and Neo-Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral and walk through Hradcany, once a small municipal town with many palaces including the Loretto (17th century), the Lobkowitz Palace in Renaissance style (16th century), the baroque Cernin Palace or the Schwarzenberg Palace. Also an opportunity to relax in the beautiful Castle Gardens. (B) Day 5: Prague (CZE). The medieval city of Prague has many "jewels" to admire. Our coach and walk combined guided tour will show you the Lesser Quarter - Mala Strana (founded 1257), including the Church of St. Nicholas, the most beautiful example of baroque style. The Jewish Quarter (1091), Vysehrad (1070) with the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul and Slavin graveyard, the resting place of many important personalities of Bohemian history. We also see Prague's Eiffel Tower on Petrin hill and the Premonstratensian monastery complex Strahov. Then the day is free. (B,D) Day 6: Konopiste, Telc (CZE). We set out on a journey today. The first destination is one of the most beautiful World chateaux, Konopiste. The castle (founded in the 13th century) houses a fascinating collection of historical weapons, Art Deco style decorations richly combined with hunting equipment and unforgettable collections of hunting trophies of some 300 000 animals. In Telc, we will admire its splendid oblong center, lined by Renaissance houses with arcades. This UNESCO listed town is one of the most well preserved historic cities in the world. (B, D) Day 7: Salzburg (AUT). We head south to Austria and Mozart's hometown in the early morning. Accompanied by a qualified local guide we stroll through Salzburg. See Residence Square with its impressive baroque fountain, magnificently renovated cathedral, the famous No. 9 house - Mozart's Birthplace among others. We visit Hohen-salzburg Fortress - the city's Landmark - and wonderful Mirabell Gardens. You can enjoy a water show in famous Hellbrunn Water Gardens this evening. (B) Day 8: Munich (GER). This morning we drive past the mountains and lakes of Upper Bavaria to Munich, a truly fabulous city. In the company of a qualified local guide we explore Marienplatz - the heart of the city. Attractions include the copper tipped domes of the 500-year-old Frauenkirche, the 43-bell Glockenspiel in New Town Hall, Nymphenburg Palace, etc. The afternoon is free. Why not to visit a Bavarian Beer Hall with the Tour Director? (B) Day 9: Nuremberg (GER). Today we arrive in historic Nuremberg. Our orientation walk of the medieval city's heart surrounded by the old city walls reveal the Emperor Castle, the Virgin Mary's Church (Frauenkirche), St. Sebald's Cathedral, and many other sights. Shopping time is available during the afternoon. (B) Day 10: Regensburg, (GER). Regensburg's Old City is famous as a Gothic pearl of unique uniformity. The High Cathedral of St. Peter, which together with the Stone Bridge are Regensburg's landmarks which are believed to be the most important Gothic sacral buildings in the whole of Southern Germany. We step out into wide streets and squares flanked by patrician palaces and splendid castles whose towers mimic mediaeval skyscrapers that have withstood a thousand years of history. But there are still more ancient artifacts such as the massive block stone in the Roman walls. In the evening we cross the border to the Czech Republic. (B) Day 11: Domazlice, Horsovsky Tyn, Prague (CZE). You will admire the very beautiful folk architecture of the village houses and small belfries in the country around Domazlice. In the town itself we take a guided tour of a magnificent square with a houses adorned with arcades, ornamental gables and balustrades. The majority of the houses were built in Gothic, Renaissance and Empire Styles. We see the dominating feature of the city; a leaning tower and visit the Chodsko Regional Museum. After a visit of Horsovsky Tyn castle, we arrive in Prague for a farewell dinner in the evening. (B, FD) Day 12: Prague / RETURN HOME. It is time to say Good Bye to your new friends and board your plane to home. (B) |
