DAY BY DAY ITINERARY | |
Day 1: Departure. Overnight flight to Prague. Day 2: Prague (CZE). Learn about the history of the "Town of a hundred Golden Towers". See Old Town Hall (1364) with the Astronomical Clock. In Old Town witness architecture ranging from Gothic gloom to Baroque opulence. You can't miss the center of many Bohemian historical changes, Wenceslas Square. This evening we will get to know each other at a Welcome Dinner. (WD) Day 3: Prague (CZE). Today we visit Prague's Hradcany Castle. We cannot miss Old King's Palace, Vladislav Hall, St. George's Basilica or famous Golden Lane. Explore St. Vitus Cathedral, one of the greatest churches of the 14th century. Then we take a relaxing tour in the beautiful castle gardens. Tonight we enjoy a fascinating show of music, water and lights at the Krizik fountain. (B, D) Day 4: Prague (CZE). After a guided overview coach tour of Prague we take a leisurely funicular ride up Petrin hill where you can climb up to the top of Prague's Eiffel Tower. This yields a spectacular view of the city. You can't miss the funny Mirror Maze and then the rest of the day is at leisure. Our Tour Director will be pleased to help you arrange your private itinerary. (B) Day 5: Meissen, Dresden (GER). We head northwest this morning through the beautiful landscape of the Czech-Saxon Switzerland. In Meissen, we visit famous porcelain manufacture museum. Then we visit the historical center of Dresden and Old Master Picture Gallery. (B,D) Day 6: Berlin (GER). This morning we go to the capital of Germany, Berlin. Our afternoon's guided sightseeing includes Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, remains of the Berlin Wall. The evening is yours. Why not to visit one of many cultural programs? (B) Day 7: Berlin (GER). After morning over-view coach tour including the 1936 Olympic complex made famous by Jesse Owens, the day is at leisure. In the evening we head to Poznan, Poland. (B) Day 8: Poznan (POL). We take a short orientation tour in the center of this historic town: Old Square, renaissance Town Hall, Archbishop's Palace. In the afternoon we go to Warsaw, rebuilt capital of Poland. (B, D) Day 9: Warsaw (POL). Today we visit Old Town, reconstructed after wartime destruction claimed 90% of the town. See St. John's Cathedral and the Warsaw Ghetto. The rest of day is yours. (B,D) Day 10: Czestochowa, Krakow. An early departure to Czestochowa, site of the magnificent 14th century Paulite monastery at Jasna Gora and home to the famous painting, the 'Black Madonna'. Then continue south to medieval Krakow, formerly the capital of Poland's kingdom and historical center of science. A local guide leads a sightseeing tour. (B, D) Day 11: Auschwitz, Krakow (POL). This morning we visit the Concentration Camp of Auschwitz. Afternoon is free in Krakow. Why not to visit the Royal Castle, St. Mary's Church or Dragon Cave? (B) Day 12: Banska Bystrica (SLK), Budapest (HUN). Today we head to south through the beautiful country of central Slovakia. We take a break in the historical center of Banska Bystrica and arrive in the "Twin City", Budapest in the evening.(B, D) Day 13: Budapest (HUN). Local guide takes us around one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. We see Parliament and Heroes square in Pest, visit Fisherman's Bastion in Buda. Why not take a boat ride on Danube on this free afternoon? (B) Day 14: Bratislava (SLK), Vienna (AUT). Today we visit the capital of Slovakia - Bratislava. We take a short orientation tour in the center of town. Then we head to Vienna. After a guided coach tour along historic Ring Road we spend this evening in Prater Entertainment Park which features the world famous Giant Ferris Wheel (1896/97).(B, L) Day 15: Vienna (AUT). Today we visit the showrooms of magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. In the afternoon, a qualified local guide shows us the best sights of the city: the Parliament, Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Opera House, City Hall... and of course we visit famous St. Stephen's Cathedral. The rest of day is yours. Why not go to one of many concerts of Mozart or Strauss music in the evening? (B) Day 16: Vienna, Melk (AUT). After a free morning (don't miss a stop one of the famous Vienna coffeehouses) we go to Melk, the most beautiful monastery in Austria. Then we head to Salzburg via magnificent Austrian countryside including the Salzkammergut landscape where Emperor Franz Joseph used to spend his holidays. (B) Day 17: Salzburg (AUT). Today we take a guided tour in this charming city. Here you will find the Cathedral, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mirabell gardens, St. Peter's Abbey Church and of course we visit the birthplace of Mozart. The Eldelweiss Song will come to your memory while passing the horse-pond. The rest of day is at leisure. Why not enjoy an optional show in famous Hellbrunn Water Gardens? (B) Day 18: Munich (GER). This morning accompanied by local guide we explore the history of Bavarian capital Munich. The rest of the day is at leisure after a round coach tour. Perhaps visit Olympic Park or a Bavarian Beer hall. (B) Day 19: Cesky Krumlov (CZE). Today we head north into beautiful Bavarian countryside. In the afternoon we reach Czech borders and visit delightful Cesky Krumlov, listed by UNESCO like one of The Cultural and Natural Monuments of the World. We tour its castle and walk through charming streets of the renaissance town. (B, D) Day 20: Ceska Budejovice (CZE). Visit the famous original Budweiser brewery, founded in 19th century. Next enjoy a historic square and climb up The Black Tower. Leave Ceske Budejovice, the Royal city founded in 1250 and go to Pribram to visit the famous Virgin Mary's place of pilgrimage, Svata Hora (Holy Mountain). Enjoy a farewell dinner in the evening. (B, FD) Day 21: Prague / RETURN HOME. After breakfast it is time to say Good Bye. (B) |
